Qingdao University Chinese Language and Culture Intensive Summer Immersion Program

Brief Introduction

The program has had a successful run each summer in the past 15 years. It provided a combination of intensive language training and cultural immersion. The solid eight-week classes meet four hours each morning and one hour of one-on-one speaking session each afternoon.  Each student has a week-long home-stay with a Chinese family. The program also offers mini-courses on calligraphy, martial arts and music in afternoons. The program is also enriched by cultural tours to Beijing and Confucius’ hometown in addition to local places in Qingdao where students visit markets, schools, nursing homes, kindergartens, museums, tea farms, traditional clinics, the Beijing opera troupe, the sacred Taoist mountain, and Buddhist temples.
